Hooke's Law Lab

Purpose:
Determine 'k' of a spring.

Prodecure:
Determine the height of a spring with no weight. Add weight to the spring, and the spring will eventually come to equilibrium. Measure the height of the spring to determine the displacement. To determine the force, multiply the weight times gravity (9.8 m/s^2). Plot the points, and determine the best fit line. Use the slope of the line to detemine the spring constant, 'k'.

Data Analysis:
Following the relationship F=-kx, it is seen by determining the slope of the best fit line, that the spring constant of the spring is approximately 110.12 N/m.
